CHESAPEAKE -- The Shelton family of Chesapeake is trying to cope with a smelly and unsanitary situation in their home. They say the septic tank for the home they rent has been bubbling up and overflowing their toilets, bathtub and sink for months. The family says its gotten so bad they go to 7-Eleven to use the bathroom and shower at their in-laws home. The Health Department confirms it issued a notice of violation to the landlord but couldnt comment further because the case is "currently in legal action.
"Now, the Sheltons say the landlord has issued them an eviction notice. The landlord says he doesnt have the $40,00 to fix the problem, so he says hell ultimately let the city condemn the home.
